Bollinger County Library
The school is off and running. The library has new nonfiction books for all the upcoming reports in our teen room. The web page has a tutorial link for all ages to help with studies along with EBSCO Host available to all patrons. The library has 24 public internet access computers for patrons. The library web page has a link to the GED Online offered through the State of Missouri. The GED Online walks you through each stage of information needed to pass the exam along with an abundance of practice sheets and tests for areas you need help with. We also have the GED DVD’s and VHS available for checkout.
The library also has Visual Link Spanish on certain computers for any wishing to learn the language. The class is visual and audio in which you pace yourself as you learn the language. It is a wonderful opportunity for all patrons to further their knowledge and education. The Heritage Quest Online is available which allows access to millions of military records, obituaries and births along with the largest base of family trees available. All patrons have access to this remarkable site. If you are looking for relatives come in and give it a try.
The libraries web page also has a link to the Learning Express Library which is a site that allows patrons access to hundreds of tests and courses to better you. The site has the CNA, EMT, Police, Firefighters, GED and several other tests to see how far you are and how far you need to go. It is a wonderful place to find out what you know by taking different exams. The Go For It is a link to better your computer skills and knowledge. It is geared to teens but I have found it useful for 2-D and 3-D imaging. The topics are varied and available by video or text to appeal to all learning types. The sections begin with very basic computer skills and can be taken as far as you wish to learn.
The site also has an Internet Safety Link that directs you to NetSmarts which is an excellent site for all kids and adults alike to find out about safety online. The children’s area is a good step in introducing internet to younger children. The format is kid friendly to entertain along with learning safety online. The links to community pages is also available along with links to all local colleges on the library site. Last but not least the library BLOG link is available on the web page. I have had it up and running for some time now and have had close to a thousand hits which I am pleased with. The BLOG is updated every two weeks and any comments or suggestions you may have will be responded to shortly.
