Is There Anything Besides Email and Facebook....

Are you stuck in a rut on what to do online besides email and Facebook? Or do you hear of all these awesome sites and have never found them? We have several two hour workshops coming up for you. The “Beyond Email” workshop will be held February 3rd from 10-12 pm at the Bollinger County Library. The focus will be on exploring the internet to find all these “amazing sites” that is out in cyberspace. It will be a fun, relaxing two hours of finding and visiting these sites. Please call 238-2713 and ask for Tammy to sign up.

The next class will be held on the 10th focusing on “Free Music and Movies?” The internet has a variety of sites that is legal for you to download your audio books and music on your Mp3 players. Movies are also available for download from a few choice sites. The movies are classics for the most part not new releases. We will show you these sites and explain how to take advantage of these offers. The focus on the February 17th class will be “Menus, Recipes and Magazines”. Magazine sites are quite remarkable with a wealth of information available. The recipes offered on the sites are the same ones on the front of your most recent magazine purchase. The beauty of the web sites is the recipe from two years ago is also there. Menu planning sites have jumped leaps and bounds in the past year or so. Reputable sources such as the American Heart Association have wonderful menu planners. Recipes are everywhere to the point it is necessary to weed out the ones which you have no interest in. The final meeting of the month will be held on the 24th focusing on “Where to go and What to Do”. Navigating the internet to find flea markets or motels by the location you will be staying out is easy if you know how to do it. The workshop will show you how to find the places you want to go and where to find them!

The library is also going to hold a bi-monthly Weeknight Computer Class held on the first and third Thursdays through the month of February and March. The classes will run from 6-7:30 pm. The first class will be on Microsoft WORD 2007. The tasks you can accomplish in word is endless if you know how to guide your way through it.

We also want your input on what programs you would like to see the library do. Ideas are out there but we need to know if you will participate in programs such as a monthly gathering for menu planning, learning how to research genealogy, learning about social networking or monthly family time with board games. We are always looking for ideas from our residents here in Bollinger County so drop by and let us know!

It is not too late for junior and seniors to sign up for the LEGO Robotics Club. The club meets every second and fourth Wednesday from 4-5:30 pm at the Bollinger County Museum of Natural History.
